cold

I am not coping with the cold well at all anymore. (This is rather troubling, considering that I don't cope with extreme heat particularly well anymore, either. And it's not feasible for me to move to San Francisco or anyplace else where the weather has an annual range of 20 degrees F.) The protocol on my door, which seemed to work ok last winter, called for lightweight long underwear below 45F and midweight below 20F.

Yesterday afternoon, it was about 30F, and I was wearing the lightweight long underwear (of which I have a considerable stock, as one might expect.) I felt like I was about to freeze to death! True, my new winter coat should help with that, as it was designed for Montreal winters and perhaps even worse, but I feel like a complete fool starting to wear it before the first snowfall. (Rather than be foolish in private, or only informing those neighbors who happened to be watching at the time, here I am telling all of you. *rolls eyes*)

I thought that maybe the lightweight stuff that's just an extra layer of nylon or cotton isn't enough for my current inability to cope with reality, and I should be wearing the high-tech winter sports gear more often. A few pieces of my underwear already count as high-tech winter sports gear, and for the past 6 years I have been delighted to wear them ~30 days every winter. Now, if I want to wear such things continuously* until March, I ought to get a few more of them. So, there I was, searching the sale websites for EMS and LL Bean and REI for midweight thermal underwear that wouldn't cost the earth. Along the way, I found this.

It looks like it's the same color as my midweight thermal pants. It looks like they no longer make the pants in the super color, only in black and white. I wonder if a person could get a suitable "S" and red cape. The cape wouldn't fit so well under clothes.
