mbta question
Sep. 27th, 2007 09:49 amFor almost a year, I've been paying for bus and subway rides one at a time instead of buying a monthly pass. When the T brought in the Charlie cards a person could use for buying rides one at a time for less money, I used those...but it's still basically one at a time. October is likely to involve a lot of running around beyond walking distance, so I'm planning to buy a monthly pass this weekend. Do any of you know what happens with the money I have left on the stored-value card?
If I have $10 on the card at the end of September, and I buy a pass for October for $62, does the card have $10 sitting there alongside the October pass? Could I use that take the bus home 9/30 and still have $8.75 left on the card at the beginning of November? Or does the $10 go into the pass, so I only pay $52 (but have to walk home)? Or does the money just disappear, unless I get a separate card for the October pass, and am careful not to mix up the identical-looking cards?
