I could not have imagined using the vegetable peeler that way until I saw the person doing it in the video (which is surprisingly charming.)

I have completely given up on washing leeks. When I buy the frozen ones from Trader Joe's, I am paying them for the washing as well as the cutting up and blanching and freezing.
